Crime Mapping

Updated: May 6, 2019

I often get asked if this neighborhood is "safe". As Realtors(R) we need to be careful in how we answer this as it can violate the Federal Fair Housing rules which are meant to deter steering Buyers to and from certain neighborhoods. Besides, what one person considers safe, may not be what another considers safe.

Instead, I'd recommend checking out www.crimemapping.com.

For Homeowners, if you want to know if your neighborhood is experiencing a rash of car break-ins or burglaries, simply set an email alert for your surrounding area and you'll be notified when a crime occurs.

For Buyers, it's a good way to check out what's going on out there and to see if it meets your criteria. And, when you find the right property for you, I always recommend going for a walk around the neighborhood during your inspection period at various times of day to get a feel for the area.
